As a family business, we are deeply rooted in heritage, quality, and responsibility. We prioritize the longevity of our products, fairness in our relationships, and a holistic approach to sustainability. Our efforts are a continuous process of improvement and innovation.
While there is still much to do, every step reflects our dedication to reducing environmental impact. We enhance sustainable practices across design, manufacturing, logistics, packaging, and building management. Long-term relationships with suppliers are the norm, and we increasingly incorporate recycled materials while considering every stage of our products’ lifecycle. Collaborating with partners, we focus on responsible production, short supply chains, and creating swimwear designed to last.
“In our eyes, the perfect
swimsuit is the one you’ll
treasure for years.”

Close to Home
We keep it local: We design and develop in our atelier in Germany. We aim to source our components in Europe, whenever possible. For our outer fabrics we achieve close to 100% on this goal.
40% crafted in-house: Produced in our owned & operated factories, with nearly half of this production in Europe and the rest in China. The remaining 60% is produced by trusted long-standing partners, in Europe and in facilities in North Africa.
By land or by sea: 80% of products take these lower-impact routes, 20% by air.

Lower-impact
Materials
Overall, 40% of our products use recycled outer fabrics.
Lidea is leading with 65% recycled outer fabrics, followed by Watercult with 50%.
Maryan Mehlhorn Bionics swims towards minimal crude oil dependency.
75% of cover-ups are crafted from non-synthetic fabrics.
Lidea Eco-Shape delivers a complete eco-package: recycled fabrics, recyclable rubber, and European production.
Energy-Smart
Powered by the sun: Our German HQ & warehouse shine with solar energy.
We top this up with 100% certified renewable electricity for our German sites.
LED-lit and energy-fit: We’ve invested to keep energy waste low and efficiency high.
Pedal Power: Promoting greener commutes with Job bikes and E-bikes for our staff.
E-Mobility: E-vehicle charging stations and cars available, with plans to expand further.

Maximizing
Resources
Made-to-order focus: We craft closer to demand, minimizing overproduction.
Reused Returns: Returns are repurposed, never destroyed.
Excess materials: Sold, donated, or transformed into something meaningful.
Circular Hangers: Defective ones are collected and recycled back into the loop.
Packaging Considered: 100% made from or containing recycled materials.
Sewing smarter: In 2021, we completely switched all items to recycled sewing thread. By now we used enough to circle the earth 3,000 times.
